Where to Spend Game Day around Lake Martin
Being in Alabama, our relationship with football runs deep. We consider football season as much of a season as fall or winter, and we take it seriously. Friends and family start discussing impending tailgates in late July and the first games of the year kick-off early September. Chances are, you know someone with season tickets, a game day house, or a R.V. specifically for traveling with the team. It’s how we do things here. Lake Martin is just 40 miles from Auburn and 120 miles from Tuscaloosa. Needless to say, you’ll be hard-pressed not to find a football fan around every corner in these parts. For those of you who want to spend the weekends enjoying football from the Lake Martin area, we’ve scouted a few locations where you can watch games.
Catherine’s Market at Russell Crossroads might be an unexpected spot to spend game day, but trust us, it’s a great location for football. Every Saturday throughout college football season, Catherine’s encourages guests to bring their friends for a day of football and food. The market’s flat screen televisions are all tuned into football games. Plus, there’s great food available too. Even better? This event is free!
Located in the heart of Alex City, Fermenter’s Market on the Green specializes in craft beer, fun spirits, and fantastic wine. They are best known for their live music, but football fans will relish in watching the games from the bar as well. The restaurant has five televisions and have been known to serve football themed cocktails on occasion. Yellow Hammers for Alabama fans and War Eagles for Auburn fans. Better yet: try both and let us know which team has the better libation!
It’s no secret that Copper’s Grill is one of our favorite spots on Lake Martin. We’ve talked about how much we love Copper’s for a Lake Martin date night, but we also happen to enjoy pulling up a chair at Copper’s for a football game. With a 20’ screen, you can essentially feel like you’re at the game while watching it from the comfort of Copper’s lush green lawn. As the weather starts to cool down (finally!), we can only imagine the football fun to be had at Copper’s!
As you can see, these are just a few of many spots to cheer on your favorite team. Let us know what your favorite sports bars are around Lake Martin in the comments!
